Kyokushin kaikan is a karate style focused on stand-up, full contact combat. It was founded by Master Masutatsu Oyama in 1964. Masutatsu Oyama (1923-1994) was born in Korea under the name, Choi Young-Eui. He went to Japan at the age of 15 and later followed Gichin Funakoshi learning karate. With his hard work, he finally became a karate master and set up his own karate school in 1964, naming it Kyokushin kaikan.
Kyokushin kaikan Karate is famous for its strict training, perseverance and persistence. It has been growing quickly since its foundation, resulting in being one of the biggest martial arts organizations in the world.
